http://www.homemadepowerplant.com/?hop=adonpub In 2006, Mike took his home off of the electrical power grid. Ever since, he has been generating his own electricity. All of Mike's electrical power comes from solar energy. He usually generates 160 percent more energy than he needs to power his home. Mike isn't likely to sell his power to the grid. Instead, Mike uses the excess electrical power to make hydrogen, which he stores in tanks, to run his car on. Mike has proven that it is possible for you to power your home and car from solar power.

  • Way cool - only with pioneers like you will we have a sustainable future!! Even with just his super-insulated house and the geothermal heat/cool he would easily be using 50% or more less than the average home. Then he could just use the solar to save a bit more. He'd be at 75% or more in savings. All the H production - storage and fuel cell are mostly just fun toys for him.

  • Wow this is so cool you could drop this system on some island in the pacific and be set way to go Michael any new projects?

  • I don't need a 3 month supply of Hydrogen . 2 weeks is way more than enough to power backup generator. Just 1 Tank is plenty . ! don't need a fuel cell either I can burn hydrogen in my generac 8KW generator. That right there is a $50,000.00 saving. I got the panels and the tank and inverters and the batteries . The only thing holding me back is an electrolizer, which I have under construction at present. So I am within range of doing this thing on the cheap and be almost as good as your's is

  • So after about 250 years he breaks even.

  • Clean Enery, I hope one day this kind of sustainable house will be the standard.

    Good job Michael Strizki :)

  • Was this project a taxpayer funded suck or does the whole project make financial sense? ... especially seeming as you actually have an existing grid connection.

  • All of them are existing technologies. New housing projects should set budget for them so mass production plants can be built. Hydrogen generation with excessive is very attractive. Extending a little bit into the sunlight we ignored everyday needs a movement that we all should push. The expertise must be distribute so the technology becomes more trustworthy and reliable.

  • "Houston. We have a problem!" With the continued chemtrails being sprayed daily, and accelerating, the light intensity has dropped by 20% ... solar may be a no starter in a dec ade.
