Superb band, better than almost all the Motown big boys (exceptions being Isley Brothers, Four Tops and Temps are just as good. Isleys, and Four tops slightly better due to Ronald Isley and Levi Stubbs fab voices, slightly better than this magnificent gentleman in Delfonics)
i agree , check out the trammps lead singer jimmy ellis. on record he is like the modern wilson pickett ! when you go see them live he does not sing like he does on the records. he can sing but i went to see them 3 times 1977-80 here in chicago and he did not do like on the record , even the other lead singer robert upchurch who sings lead on seasons for girls & shares lead on body contact, people of the world rise, disco party, did holler like he does on the record jimmy did not !
Thanks for posting-I agree with ...57. I saw them live twice, in 1970 and in 1991. in '70 only the Hart Bros. came, flat-out dynamite. In '91 I don't know who was there with William, but he was struggling for sure. They all were nervous and unsure, Those high notes require a lot of air, I love Poogie, maybe if he unloaded extra lbs, he would sound better. We spend our hard earned $ on ticket. I had a chance to see them in 2009, I passed. From the reviews I heard, sooo glad I did.
It is hard to imagine why an incredible vocal group such as the Delfonics would compromise the tempo and style of such a fantastic song in order to appeal to a younger audience. Much is lost in the translation.

Who are you talking about? I am not familiar with Jimmy Ellis. Who are the Trammps?
Have you ever seen the Delfonics live?
