Discovered just a few weeks after SSF4's release, we've been testing out new ideas for setting up the vortex as opposed to the standard SJ to low kunai hit. The original vortex setup is hard enough to get out of if timed right but this gives them less time to react than a tall arcing super-jump and can be forced to hit front (instead of crossup) with a timing adjustment...for extra ambiguity.

INPUT: Neckbreaker, LK Command Dash, instant LP kunai

  • does it work against a seasoned player ?

  • @shadowkid1993 Nothing in fighting games is assured to work as there's almost always a counter. So the #1 goal after execution is making sure you're not predictable and this move is anything but. It's an unusual and unexpected way to continue a vortex which if used sparingly and executed properly might help you continue a vortex.

Consider it one additional tool in the vortex, of which Ibuki has roughly a half dozen setups for =)

  • @morydees34 Hey man, thanks for the vid, I am a total newb at street fighter, and rally like the ibuki and akuma style (I know polar styles lol)

The problem is, that I can't sustain this vortex, the main problem lies after I air kunai, I can't link it with combo four like you do so easily.

Also, when I play online, I just turn into a button masher, I don;t know how to practice and get good at it, you seem to have some clue, I would appreciate your help alot.

PS: I play on xbox, if in case..

  • @KrsnaBhakta Unfortunately there's no shortcut or way around simply practicing. Some of us have thousands of hours into the game, getting used to combo timing, footsies and strategy...and even then we still fall into bad habits, mashing and such. You might try to play offline when you can (with friends, at local arcades, etc) so you don't get used to countering some of the silly online mashing tactics. If you can't, try finding some SF forum people in your region to play with.

  • are you doing the tiger knee motion for this? please say no becuz I absolutely canbot perform that motion. I've seen videos of this in matches but they do the up diagonal at the end.

  • @bartdude82 No not at all. It's simply a LP command dash into a jump. It's all timing, not execution so much.

  • @morydees34 Thanks for the honest answer, I understand, the key really is practice. No arcade for me nearby, but hey I am pretty good at watching and learning. So I will keep practicing and watching videos like yours more keenly. Compared to where I was two months ago, I see that I am developing the "fighting sight"

Again, thanks for the videos and the answer. Peace.

  • @shadowkid1993 in my opinion it wouldn't work against a seasoned player, especially if it was a seasoned player using Guy.

  • definitely a good vortex tactic if used sparingly will catch most people off gaurd one of my favourite setups post 3000pp got stuff keep it up

  • @morydees34 thank god for that!

that's what i love about street fighter, the game is just sooo fair!

    its perfectly balanced!
