David Cameron authorises the use of water cannon to combat riots across the UK, saying something is badly wrong in our society. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn
So let me get this straight - Prime Minister David Cameron can do whatever it takes to stop thugs rallying in the name of "human rights" from destroying his country by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. However President Bashar al-Assad is NOT allowed to stop ARMED thugs in his country disguised again as protestors by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. If the protestors in the UK were armed what would have been the response? Can anybody else see the double standard here?
@bobsterfish Well said, I can't believe there are actually people out there defending these destructive, obnoxious, violent and Chavvy thugs. This was just a riot done for the hell of it, a bunch of Chavs bored with nothing to do over the summer. The politically-correct culture has gone way too far here in the UK, if morons like these are able to set fire to buildings and destroy people's livelihoods knowing that many members of the population will defend them out of their dislike of Cameron.
these people have no voice ! so when they finally get a voice lets shoot them and use water cannon!! SS springs to mind. cant wait untill the boot is on the other foot !!!!
@bobsterfish Although i agree with your overall comment on harder policing - just want to point out - water cannons when full travel at around 15 mph max, the rioters in August were using snatch, grab and run tactics, which meant water canons would have been useless- same goes for stun grenades and bouncing bullets- those kind of tactics only work for densly packed riots. Incidents like Ian Tomlinson's death at the G20 protests stop police using over force because of 'public outcry'
You could have stopped the riots in the first hour if you allowed the police to do their job. This fucking "policing by consent", and "the children don't know what they're doing" and "the riots are politically motivated" bollocks has got to stop. I know how to stop the riots: send the police in, with guns, water cannons and stun grenades. Give them one warning "go home or you'll fucking regret it". There you go, problem sorted.
