YES, THAT'S a MAN Singing it. Latvian/Russian sensation Vitas He has the most AMAZING countertenor voice I've ever heard!

Russian pop singer, composer, actor, and fashion designer. He is most commonly known by his shortened first name, Vitas, or Витас in Russian. Much of his music is straightforward pop influenced by techno, and occasionally classical opera.

  • Actually, falsetto does count as countertenor... there is falsetto countertenor and modal. Most countertenors are actually singing falsetto, few sing it in a modal voice. Vitas manages both. However, I'm rather fond of this rendition, and I never did say it was opera. Many of the contemporary renditions of this song combine the old operatic piece with a pop/new age twist.

I do like other, more classical countertenors, but as I said, I'm rather fond of the rich tone Vitas has.

  • IMPRESSIVE!...though never would have guessed it was a man singing!

  • Yeah. surprised me too. However, he really is a guy. He sings low in some of his other music videos posted here as video responses.

  • Vitas is awesome, thats one of my fav. operas !

and i'd love to play the violin solo (=

    its simply amazing !

  • Yeah. I'd like to learn to sing this song. I need a lot of work on my vibrato and arpeggios first, though!

  • Главное что не блондин!

  • How many of us can have his commanding range of five octet? He is probably be only one of the few in the world who can do that. Many of us will definitely damage our vocal cord from doing so. What a true talent..I will always be your fan..Vitas..

  • @artulusis

    Did you mean "Latvian-born Russian"!

  • @CircaRigeI

Yo right, Vitas is the best countertenor ever!

  • @TixoyaSlezy

    Yes, it is!

  • if he's any other nationality than Russian, he's Estonian, and Russian

  • @Heartlessiceboy Well dear Someone, sorry I don't know Your name...I don't remember saying any of it what's included in your comment....and sorry I don;t even listen to Lady Gaga or Paris Hilton so please don't be so utterly rude .You're wasting my time, maybe you think you're a specialist in that matter but I'm also attending Music Academy ...and i think you are taking things too seriously...You don't know me completely yet you are stating very unfair conclusions..Thanks a lot.

  • @AnneClairee Well dear Ann Claire I'm a singer and I'm actually a countertenor so of course I take music seriously.Maybe you didn't know but singing is a serious career that requires many years of study and discipline. The fact that a person is capable to produce sounds doesn't make that person a singer like just because someone can hold a scarpel doesn't mean that its a surgeon. Why waste my time you probably think that Lady Gaga is going to be the new Callas or Paris Hilton the new Bartoli

  • @WaffleRomanoff Again, another person 's taking it too seriously. It 's about his voice , rest is pretty trashy.

  • @Heartlessiceboy You are taking it too seriously .Just notice it's very rare for a guy to reach such high notes and get over it. you are snob.
