I find it ironic that someone would speak ill about a conservative promoting the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Jerry, you either don't know what it was like for conservatives on air in 1987, don’t remember, or conveniently choose to tell a half-truth simply because you already made a choice NOT to vote for Newt, for whatever reason.

In 1987, there was no Rush. There was no conservative radio at all. There was no Fox News and virtually every source of on air news in the country was left leaning...

How about the fairness doctrine is wrong in principal no matter who it would benefit? Using your logic, Gingrich co-sponsored an unconstitutional bill because it would help out his own party gain a foothold in the media. Is that supposed to be a plus for Gingrich?

Conservative radio is great- assuming that it is actually "conservative" (in a limited government kinda way). Fox, Rush, etc have been helpful in moving the country back towards the right, but its time to get back to fundamentals- first principles- and the talk radio mafia gets paid way too well (by powerful interests) to truly enlighten the people.

Click on "Cosponsors" and you can see all the sponsors. Newt didn't introduce the legislation, John Dingle did but Newt became the 11th cosponsor the very day it was introduced. Newt joined such leftist congressmen as Claude Pepper, Barbara Boxer, Mo Udall, Charles Rangel and John Murtha.

BUT... Newt was not alone on the GOP side. Other go-along Republicans included: Phil Crane, Larry Craig, Will Dannemeyer & Trent Lott.

But then, for most self-described "conservatives", conservatism has never been about principles, but about identity and partisanship. After all, George W. Bush's government expansion and corporatism was perfectly acceptable for most so-called "conservatives". After all, he had a capital R after his name, so that was no problem.

Then research Ron Paul properly and you will see the clear difference and why Newt tried to oust him from congress back in 96. This is truly Angels Vs Devils, it's no joke at all. He is flat out endorsing the abolition of our constitution in this vile book he wrote a foreword in. Is that the world you wish to live in? Did you not hear about the new NDA bill that the senate wants passed, that will pretty much take all our rights away and soon lead to MPs on the streets? Do you have any idea how toxic Gingrich is? The only reason he is up there in the polls, is a reflection of the ignorant americans who listen to fox news and who neve mention a thing of his horrible past. The man is a closet communist. He is basically another Stalin, and his voting record and endorsement of past policies prove that. He is a CFR member, and a Rockefeller imp as well, who have always been for one world government.
