@kasihumber Season 2 Episode 4, "Ted Mosby, Architect." Its at the end. Its a beautiful song I heard at my grandfather's funeral. It touched me when I heard it in the show.

I have a sketchbook I use to write "references". Everytime I see a reference elsewere I just write it down on my little book. I was watching How I Met Your Mother and I noted this song, and here I am now. Enjoying a good music. This is how you grow your culture. Doesn't matter how you get here, what counts is that you're here! I discovered Dostoieviski and Francis Bacon while I was reading Carl Sagan and I like then! I discovered Decemberists while I was at home, watching a comedy. No regrets!

Honestly, I don't see how it matters if someone got this from a television show.
As long as the person doesn't act like they discovered it on their own, I don't see a problem.
Yeah, I heard it on How I Met Your Mother, but I knew it was The Decemberists already, I just hadn't heard it before.
Some things like television shows are good vehicles for exposing people to new music.
So what if it ruins your indie cred. It's not the end of the world.
