ayn rand is a capatialist whore!

I apologise, my mistake. You are a teacher I see. Well in that case my first point still stands, exercise scrutiny during self reflection and be sure to do so often. Take care to not mistake "for a house in which to live, an inn that is but suitable for the sojourn of a night". All too often modern "philosophers" or "Scholars" become to comfortable in their intellectual caves and become those most ignorant of creatures, Idealists.

Also there is no definition of virtue that fits your description, let alone one that describes a verb. Virtue is a more or less static aspect of one's personality, a propensity towards a certain kind of action or ethic. LAdies and gentlemen here you have it, when the proverbial scum noted by Marx (I am a Capitalist be not mistaken) in his Communist Manifesto hit the web and discover their hidden genius.

@ProximaMinor that is romanticisation. You have no ethics to conflict with your survival instinct. That is fine to say, just don't insult your own intelligence with unwarranted grandiosity.
-
@feedkillchain Didn't mean to creep you out.

@shaokem It IS possible to both understand and disagree with Rand. If your correctness is being challenged, it doesn't always mean your fearless leader's words have gone past anyone. I know it feels good to have the only true philosophy and to attribute any criticism to morons, parasites, and communists; but it seems more like a way of telling yourself all the other kids laughing at you don't matter because you're so superior. You can rest easy, no one's laughing. Because you're creeping us out.
-
@feedkillchain Typo: America, not American.
-
@feedkillchain Well... how do you think that comes off to people? Why do you think it comes off that way? What could have happened to make you act such that it would come off that way?
-
@feedkillchain Does that remind you of any other popular conservative clubs in American? If this is how your personality ends up when you live by Mizz Rand's infallible moral dogma, you can keep it. Someone will be glad to debate Objectivism with you point by point, but not me. When someone says to you "I possess the perfect ethical code. It will allow certain people who are better than the rest to prosper and be happy... but only once we've changed the world to be the way want it to be."
Rand used one definition of selfishness to justify another, which is intellectually shady. From self-respecting to solipsistic. So to follow Rand's philosophy is to live the life of an apologist, all the while claiming to owe an explanation to no one. Puzzling.

In Rand's philosophy (and in reality) there is only ONE definition of Selfishness; so I fail to see how or where Rand uses one definition of selfishness to justify another defitiontion of selfishness (since if you actually read Rand's work, you will only find one definition of selfishness).
Anyways, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

After all that you haven't even begun to explain why you think selfishness is a virtue.

Virtue is the action you use to obtain a value.
My ultimate value is life. Selfishness is the means in which I obtain it.
