The people who didn't like the ending are the people who either A) don't watch the sopranos or B) it just flew over their heads. every person in that restaurant is a symbol. a reference to earlier plots in the series.

I totally agree with your view of the final scene. I know that Tony got shot in the final scene. I'm happy enough with the ending. We don't need to see it happen, we know it happened!!!! It all turns black and Tony is dead.

phil would have known that the mob has all kinds of connections to the cops and whoever else. tony even tried to get furio when he in italy, it's implied that there is a good chance the mob can find you anywhere.

I asked why phil didn't send a hitman to tony's house when he was talking to his family, and a.j. was all depressed and tony threw him out of his bed.

I didn't say phil tried to whack him then, just that he should have. all someone would have to do was camp outside tonys front door and waste him when he walked out.
