  • I notice that a lot of comments saying that Miss Virginia should've won instead of Miss South Carolina and I couldn't agree with you more.

In fact, Miss Virginia, who is now Mrs. Emmit Smith, dominated the final competition and, in my opinion, gave the best answer in the final question.

  • Politics again. South Carolina did not deserve to win miss USA 1994, Virginia did. It doesn't make any sence to participate in a pagent if Politics is going to stop you from winning.

  • they didn't want to have two back to back black or biracial winners.. hence Miss South Carolina USA.. and you know that is what happened.. i thought that years ago and still feel the same way years later..

  • Kenya Moore is hot!

  • @sholloway84 How was Virginia's answer negative? And her gown was not outstanding? A lot of Miss USA winners have won in gowns that were less than outstanding. Oh well. It is what it is. It was 17 years ago and I have gotten over it.

  • I have to say that I disagree with most of the comments below. Virginia was pretty but her evening gown was not outstanding and she took a negative approach on the final question. South Carolina looked amazing during the pageant with an extremely elegant gown. Her final answer was the most positive. She was also at the thinnest I think ever for her on this night. She looked much heavier at MU and MUSA 95 but this evening, she was the best overall candidate.

  • Miss South Carolina is the winner by far in my opinion.

  • @PungiFungi Still somewhat shocked as Pat gave a much better answer to the final question that Lu did. And again in 1993, Kenya gave a much better answer than Georgia did. In fact, for me Georgia lost it on the final question. She was shaky and nervous and seemed unsure of herself, whereas, Kenya answered without even stopping to think it over. She showed sincerity and poise, compared to Georgia's nervousness.

  • @robinquinc329 , in 1993, everybody thought Georgia was going to win, even the commentators seem to think she was going to win. 1994 seem almost like a backlash to that upset victory. I swear, after Miss Virginia's near identical semi-finals interview to Georgia's in 1993, I knew this was going to happen again.

  • @PungiFungi I noticed that also. Makes you wonder if it really was racist that Pat lost out as some people want to claim.

  • Interesting that in 1993, Miss GA (who was white) was leading but lost out to Miss MI (who was black) who actually won the Prelims. One year later, the situation reversed: Miss VA (black) was leading (and she gave an almost identical interview as Miss GA in which both demonstrated their broadcasting skills) and lost out to Miss SC (white), the prelim winner.

  • @lianlaspinas 1994 miss universe was broadcast by abs-cbn because they are global network and partner with CBS for miss universe 1994 RPN broadcast miss universe from 1995 to 2006..
