Rangers carry out dawn raids against charcoal makers in Virunga National Park, DR Congo. The illegal production of charcoal is the biggest cause of deforestation in Virunga. The trees destroyed in this wasteful process are of tremendous biological significance in themselves. As a habitat for the many endangered species that inhabit the park, like the Mountain Gorilla, the forests make the difference between life and extinction. To find out more about what the park authorities are doing to protect the park visit http:www.gorillacd.org.
Great video, teach the tree killers a lesson.
