  • Spectacular, Miss Aretha Franklin!

  • @leesterg __ Oh No They Won't! LOL! I HAVE a Majority OF 'em!!!! Heh heh!

So, I know exACTly what you're talkin' about my friend! I just don't have 'everything she's done, but MUCH of it. I just got a year or two ago a 2 cd set called "The Queen In Waiting", but don't know where it is... (sheepish grin!!!) Thanks for the words tho'. I'll have to look!

    Blessings.

    C.J.

  • @stage7 This medley of songs are from albums she recorded while on the Columbia album prior to signing with Atlantic Records where she had a first big hit Respect! Go to Amazon.com and check out these earlier albums, Aretha's performance from '60 to '63 will blow you away!

  • @dpohunter She was a misfit at Columbia. The producers tried to make her a pop singer without the soul in it. The truth came out at Atlantic and the rest is history. I did like her version of mocking bird. There was another song call ' Soulville' that showed her soulful side ( feeling)

  • I love her singing in this range. She's got the best mid and low range ever. I don't like when she goes to high. And these songs are just gems!!! she sounds like the soundtrack of Black America. Just brilliant.

  • It's a shame Aretha's early work at Columbia had been discounted for so long. Her 1960-66 output was truly fantastic! Hard to believe she only scored one Top 40 hit in those years ("Rock A Bye Your Baby To A Dixie Melody" in 1961). She sang it all back then- Blues, Pop, Soul and even showtunes, and did it all brilliantly.

  • These songs are what she referred to as her 'turntable hits'. Lots of play on AM radio and DJ parties, night club perfomances (Columbia Records) no Top 10 Rand B ratings , the Queen none the less. Can I get a WITNESS!!!!!

  • Lástima que se oiga tan mal... pero !qué temaso!

  • I love the way she sings "Wont be long" :)
