After having seen a Pow Wow sign post while driving on a Canadian highway this summer, I decided to branch off and followed the directions till I got to this ceremony that brought together a group of native American Indian community. They came from different parts of Canada to celebrate the Pow Wow festival in Thessalon. I could not wait for the Peshawbestown Pow Wow in North Michigan town of Leelanau which starts on 21st to 22nd August this year. Being on a vacation, I had to enjoy this moment and managed to briefly talk to some of the community members as they continued to celebrate with songs and dances. This is a sacred festival where most of the singers and drummers are adolescent boys, the dancers are of all age groups. Women have their own circle of dance and the men too, each one after another. The dancers keep on rotating around while stamping their feet in a rhythmic motion. This is original native American Indian culture worthy promoting on You Tube.
