Vigilante activity got to a devastating resumption on Sunday night in Mathira with the killing of two young men described as adherents of the outlawed Mungiki sect. Mathira is the scene of macabre slaughter of 29 people in April by suspected members of the Mungiki. And on Sunday night vigilantes were claiming that their two victims had taken part in the massacre. As Rita Tinina reports, the killings raise fears of a return to the vicious cycle of revenge attacks pitting Mungiki adherents and vigilante groups in the area.
First and foremost, there is no justification in murdering, whether to revenge or for whatever reason. Second the families of the victims of those who were massacared by mungiki deserves to hear that justice is done. Mr Wako why cant you please step aside. There is a government and people expect to see the murders brought to book not 'nolle prosequi' and impunity everyday.

Gosh, these vigilantes are becoming worse than Mungiki. But with Njenga and 19 others freed people feel that justice will never be served. The assurances for justices that Saitoti and Kalonzo gave at the funerals are turning out to be lies
