Debbie Vitez, a member of the Grand River Environmental Network, and Waterlooians.ca spokesperson, David Wellhauser, ask Canadian federal political party leaders what they will do to assist neighbourhoods adversely affected by industrial contamination?
Debbies family has been adversely affected by Northstar Aerospace, an industrial polluter in Preston, Cambridge, Ontario. The banks of the Grand River share a legacy of industrial pollution. Toxic chemicals like Trichloroethylene (TCE) are linked to serious illnesses in the neighbourhood.
Along with the public, it is the continued responsibility of policy makers and government institutions to protect our vital groundwater resources for future generations. Environment Canadas A Federal Perspective on Water Quantity Issues states 'We can no longer take our extensive water supplies for granted.'
Leaders of Canadas federal political parties are encouraged to upload their responses to youtube.com and forward the link to www.waterlooians.ca.
