Recorded on August 22, 2008 using a Flip Video camcorder. Eating bread right out of the hand, and gentle about it.

  • Hey this must be at the same pond as my nutria videos are from! Is it the one by Fred Meyer? If so, I was just there two weeks ago and fed four nutrias. It was my first time seeing them in the wild (I'm from AZ).

  • Exactly! You had the same experience of how sweet & gentle nutria are, I bet. Yep, it is the same place. The geese can be agressive, but not the nutria. What a small world it is! Thanks for noticing the video.

  • If the little girl (seen not heard) had teased them with the bread they probably would have attacked her. They are usually mean buggers. If they get spoiled and then denied, they get aggressive (the same as squirrels). They are also an invasive species that competes against native rodents. They should be killed on sight.

  • how cute !!!!!!!!!!!, I have one at home, they are the most intelligent and loving animals youe have ever seen ....

  • Are they any good to eat?

  • kill em all, but damn they are cute

  • These ignorant people! We have them in our ponds in Oakland, Oregon and they get shot! They are a nuisance and very destructive! They can be very aggresive!

  • @CindyPDX nutria are native to South America, and were brought into the north by a bunch of stupid trappers. They cause a lot of damage to wetland because they burrow in banks. I have a few at a pond on my property and I shoot them.

  • There are so many now in areas in Portland, Oregon. They are sort of cute..like a cross between a beaver (Oregon the Beaver state!) an otter, and the tail of a opossum (ugh). Long ago I read they were brought here from Australia and have grown big time. Now recently on the local news the city trying to rid of the Nutria's ended up killing a pet dog. Owners now suing. Sort of a mess when we mix up and mess with nature and place animals where they never were before...

  • nutria are a pest and an invasive species. they eat too much and displace native critters.

  • @rurikvred Maryland Migrating Birds huh? Maryland, to be more specific, Baltimore, has a bigger vermin problem. It's the two legged type of vermin. The type of vermin that fills the city morgues. This same species of vermin can also be found in New Orleans. They also fill the city morgues there as well. Compared to the two legged vermin, nutria aren't that bad. I don't think nutria killed anyone during Katrina. So yes, I still think nutria are cute. Feral hogs on the other hand I dislike!

  • If a nutria could talk and told me to come with him I would.
