Following a disappointing 5 round, 25 minute loss to UFC welterweight champion GSP, former Purdue wrestling standout and BJJ Black Belt Jon Fitch traveled to Thailand to focus on his Muay Thai techniques.

Training with MMA Phuket at the Tiger Muay Thai facility in Phuket Thailand Fitch spent 4 weeks training twice a day with some of the best instructors Thailand has to offer.

Featured trainers in this video include Kru Nazee and Kru Prathet. Nazee is a 3x Southern Thailand Muay Thai champion with over 250 career fights including an impressive win over Kharuahard Sor Suphawan.

Prathet has a professional MT record of 180 wins with only 70 losses. Competing as a Pro Boxer Prathet has also accomplished an impressive 14-2 record with one of his losses coming to Boxing champion Michael Katsidis.

  • You see, this is what I love about Martial Arts as a whole. You have the 2nd ranked 170LB MMA fighter in the world in Thailand trying to get better at one aspect of MMA that he hasn't yet mastered like his wrestling. There's ALWAYS something to learn, and that's great.

  • Excellent comment.

  • fitch really needs to dedicate serious time to his striking.. how long did he stay there? a lot of times guys say "yeah I worked on my striking in thailand" but they only stayed 1 or 2 weeks... you need like 6 months, every day for like.. 5 hours a day working stand up to get the serious improvements that he needs.

  • Fitch, sorry bout the dcesion bro. Your a hard working man, keep reaching for your goals cuz....your time will come.

  • @mmathailand Agreed.

  • i would love to train there outdoors in the heat!!! Thats what its all about!! REAL martial arts!!

  • @nyblake I agree with you completely MMA is so deep, there is always room for improvement in each and every aspect of the sport.

  • @nyblake Yeah, now that i know this guy can kick it makes me want fitch to kick everyone. i think hes got some power in those kicks and more speed then i would have thought, huh?

  • Jake Shields said he would like a shot at GSP because he is considered the best.

The interviewer asked other than GSP who else did he think was the best WW ? Shields said 'Jon Fitch is a monster, he is someone else it would be an honor to fight.'

  • Just heard Alves is out. Really sucks. Oh well we still have Shields vs Miller.
