I guess that is how friends fight, and yes Juilas was alittle strong and she came from Goergia,but the accents around there are alittle different. If you even go to New Orlands there accents are different, I came to Texas and there southern drawl sounds really country in this area. Florida no one speaks real southern at all. It depends on where you are from.

I thought it was kind of funny when Wezza got slapped. But I will say they were two of my favorites, I liked them all. Anell was funny because she kept changing religions and got all wierd with that. Dolly you have to love Dolly, Sally Fields character was more of the Motherly type. Her husband was pretty funny, trying to shoot birds out of the tree, and him and Weezas little rival they had going on.

I agree, sometimes it is hard to imitate those accents.

If I remeber correctly, Shelby moved to Alabama, and I am guessing they are somewhere in there. But there are different types of southern and northern dialects, eastern seas board ext. The actors pulled it off well.

I didn't know that, I didn't think she did bad, that movie won oscars. Even when I act I don't always do a perfect southern accent, and I spent half my life in the south. The dang movie is on cable all the time, its a classic.

I don't think they did so bad on the accents. Even if they were alittle off they made up for it.

Being from the South the accents are train wrecks. Only because Hollywood thinks there is one accent and tries to make them all sound alike. I'm from Alabama and I can hear about four different accents in my state alone. With the accent being almost none in the very Northern part of the state. Dolly, Julia, and Shirley are all from the South. Julia's is the worst accent in all because thy have her lay it on so thick.

I LOVE these two!!!!!! They're probably my favorite characters in the movie!!! I felt so bad at the end when Clairee accidentally made Jack Jr. so scared of Ouiser that he slapped her.:p

I'm from Louisiana...about 60 miles north of where this movie was based and filmed. There is a certain accent in Natchitoches (called "Chinquapin" in the movie) that's difficult to imitate. The accent there has a lot of Creole French influence. Nevertheless, I think the ladies in the movie did well. Louisiana accents can be tough to imitate.

@TheFiestyhick what part of the south are you from? (I'm not trying to be rude) I'm from North Carolina and that's how most people here sound. but I do agree that people stereotype people of southern descent to have no grammatical education. :)
