Rocky was the kind of dog who would hold on to something and not let go for anything. We finally managed to find a treat that he liked enough to let things go for. That was dried liver! He loves to play, and now that we can get him to drop things, can we use play as a reward in training? Watch!
PS: If you are having a similar problem with your dog, avoid forcing things out of their mouth! It makes the problem worse. Find a way to get them to drop things on their own, or just wait for it to happen as long as you need to, and then reward instantly when it does! Be patient!
