Most of America knows we say our final goodbyes to analog television on Friday, June 12 (unless you're watching a low-power religious or infomercial station with the wattage of a string of Christmas lights). WMVS in Milwaukee decides to drive people to get DTV converter boxes so people can watch their Lawrence Welk and NOVA in the clear by taking their character generator beyond eleven and create the most obnoxious and eye-searing banner ticker I have ever seen, which results in yellow text on a blue banner that repeats non-stop until the signal is turned off June 12th at 9am.

And would you believe this is actually worse than what they had before? They had purple text scrolling by before someone got the great idea to make it more in your face. So if this banner doesn't convince you it's time to switch to DTV, I don't know what will. Well, beyond that annoying Caillou whining that you'll miss his whiny voice if you don't switch already. That might actually be a relief.

In case you're wondering, this was acquired via a cable signal; my local provider is keeping WMVS's analog signal on their system until June 12th because the HD signal is still a bit twitchy about their regular presentation.
