  • I agree you should have something to say but watch out if all of your songs are protest-- you'll just sound bitchy. Dylan, the dead, beatles ect, made sure to balance care free and love songs with the message songs. Especially direct criticism songs, better to shine as yourself than criticize others-- you'll look less bitchy.

  • It can and should be done-- like Dylan Hurricane, just watch it. ie: If you dogg someone in rap it sounds cool, if you pick up a guitar and write a song about how bad they are it usually sounds pretty lame and makes you look like major bitch.

  • I don't get this. There's plenty of folk music that isn't actively protesting something. interesting though
