An 85-year-old-American gives her first-hand account of life under FDRs New Deal, and traces the parallels to today, and to Obama. Her family survived the Great Depression on a farm in the Ozark Mountains. The three-generational family is headed by a Roosevelt-loathing, politically active, very Republican grandfather.
@nothadnotbad I got one after saving since '78 and invited a few Americans to come live here, but none of them had even five bucks to rub together. I even paid all the way for one to come here legally to France but he took my cash and went back to the States. They could have had a decent farming life in France but it costs a lot to even buy a trained draft horse. They seemed to think their smiles were enough. They brought nothing to the table.

FDR unemployment 1934 - 21.7% -1936 - 16.9% - 1938 - 19.0% - 1940 - 14.6%. His spending prolonged the depression, world war two got us out. All able men were enlisted in the military(also called working) Women we also working making machines of war. Thousands died making more work available for returning men, The rest of the worlds factory's where destroyed so if you wanted something it was built in the U.S.A.. Hence F.D.R. prolonged the depression. ;)

It will happen so close to the same way, the big difference was housing wast the last bubble, this time it will be Gold, I swear I am positive the world is about ready to freak out again, and this time the same fools will believe gold is safe, it will go up and than it will go down, the higher it goes up the bigger the crash!

My grandmother told me the same thing!!! Please listing to this woman, most historians I have ever read support this claim, we must spend on infrastructure! New roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, new power plants, new technology, spending like they did in WWII we waited to long One full year, for get the economy if you have to save a company you must take it over, and build public works! But Congress, senate, supreme court, are all broken!
