Hypermile stock 2006 Prius 60mpg+ with no mods

With all the talk about hybrids getting less than advertised mpg, I did lots of research on how to hypermile the prius. The keys are 42psi in the tires, ceramic tint on the windows to lower AC use.

HYPO-miling - the art of wasting fuel.
- Drive everywhere in first gear
- When pulling off from a stop, do not release the hand-brake
- At highway speeds, leave the boot lid open for added downforce
- Use the brake and accelerator at the same time
- When stopped at a traffic light, floor the accelarator to be ready for a quick getaway
- Fill your car with bricks to improve traction
- Burnouts are a great way to nip out quickly at a poor visibility junction
- Deflate your tyres
- Use A.C

I've had my 2007 Prius for 3 weeks now. I generally get around 55 MPG, though I've gotten as much as 69 MPG on my stop-and-go commute to work and 54 MPG highway driving 65-70 MPH with the A/C on. Better than EPA estimates. -=)

My daily commute is about 30 miles each way in moderate traffic. My MPG dropped about 10 MPG in the cold weather because it takes longer for the engine to warm up, but even that is still better mileage than my Honda Civic. I've noticed if I do a lot of short 5-minute trips around town that hurts my MPG as well. I'd have to check my gas log book to verify, but I don't think I've ever gotten below 40 MPG.

These cars are really great. I drive mine everywhere. I never get less than 55 Miles Per Gallon.
