Matt Sweeney clubs a solo home run during a June 2nd California League game played against the Lake Elsinore Storm at San Diego's PETCO Park. Sweeney was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the eighth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of Rockville High School in Maryland.
Matt was once a valued prospect for the Angels, of course he was traded to the Rays for Scott Kazmir and his production seems to be decreasing. I always imagined by now him and Brandon Wood would be handling the left side of the infield but some things don't work out. I hope Matt can put it together eventually and become a solid major league player.

You are my all time favorite player Sweeney!! I was very upset that i wouldn't be able to watch you play in my city and now that your not on the quakes i don't know who to cheer for but as soon as you get a chance to play for the angels ( which you will) you better get your butt back to california so im not having to cheer for a team other than the angels just to support you. Little old Rancho Cucamonga misses you!! See you soon Chief :)

Shame he can't keep himself off the DL (hip injury this time). Starting to remind me of Dallas McPherson in that sense. Hope that isn't the case since he's a far better hitter than the former...

If you live near Rancho Cucamonga I recommend you come out to a game at the Epicenter. If Sweeney keeps hitting the ball like that it wont be too long before he gets his call up
See him in Rancho before he goes up to AA.
