Joe was played by Paul Regina, who went on to star in the groundbreaking Showtime sitcom "Brothers", while Char Fontane (Valerie), unfortunately never really had a hit series after that.
@rcbrad3 Yes, Char was only 55 when she passed. A lot of the TV Series at that time never had a chance to take off. I remember Quark. Why that show was yanked, I cannot figure that out. Looking at the schedules at that time, Joe and Valerie was on at the same time as the Incredible Hulk on CBS. Since my Dad had the controls, well it was the green guy over the cute Valerie.
Supposedly one of the writers for Diff'rent Strokes said he wrote a theme song of his own but they had already chosen the more famous one they actually used. Maybe the music played over its half of the promo was it.
Thanks for posting this. I would love to see Joe and Valerie again. It's too bad that it only lasted for 7 or 8 episodes. I loved each of the theme songs. I have some poor copies on a cassette tape. NBC gave it two chances, but it never was on long enough to find an audience. I was shocked to learn that both of the leads have passed away. :(
