This is the awesome vintage Otis traction elevator at St. Mary's Hospital, Wing D. I had some dust on the outside of my lens during this video, which is quite apparent.

(Please note: When filming in hospitals, I try to respect the privacy of patients as much as possible. Because of this, I show little to nothing outside of the elevator.)

  • Beautiful classic OTIS. The noise that you heard was the door operator.

  • @jimster586 for some reason it seemed louder that time than all of the other times that it closed

  • YAAY I got to ride this!!

  • If It Works So Good They Shuld "Never" Modernize It!

  • Oh, Jeff City!

  • I really love elevators from the 50's. The black buttons are fun to push, and the floor indicators are just... wow. There was a gorgeous elevator at my library that dated back to the fifties, I'm guessing. The door had to be opened manually with a knob, and the ride was so smooth and graceful. Sadly, the elevator was red tagged and closed due to a rotting wooden floor, and it wasn't fixed because there were other, newer elevators in the building. But I really, really miss the one from the 50's.

  • I bet this elevator will outlast the ThyssenKrupp by a mile.

  • It was. I have a video of an OTIS with a really loud door operator. "The "other" OTIS stacks elevator in Rush Rhees library"

  • wow. this is like an antique car. everything has aged very well. yes i do want to ride this one.

  • The staff elevators at UMC El Paso require ur badge to ride them. Because I volunteer there, i can ride them any time. Ive even taken this girl who got lost one day on them.
