1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Four Door 350 Rocket Drag Racing

This footage was recorded on Sept 29,1991 at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky. I owned this 1972 Olds Cutlass Town Sedan from Dec 85 to May 92 at which time it was wrecked and parted out. So the car is no longer in existence. Despite the 71: headlight bezels, grilles, and taillights, this was a 72 Cutlass. I just put these parts on the car because I liked the looks of the 71 better at that time. It was a 350 2 barrel with 2.73 gears and ran a best time of 16.19.

Yes it was. Dual exhaust and chrome air cleaner was the only modifications. Car probably had about 105,000 miles on it at the time.

Glad to see another quick olds 350. I had a 71 vista cruiser with a two barrel 350 and noone ever beat it in the first 400 feet of any of our informal local backstret drag races ,and like yours it was almost stock(dual exhaust, blue dot springs,flipped over air cleaner). I have a lot of respect for the 350 olds motor .

Nice! I wish I had a dragstrip close. 16 seconds isn't bad for a family sedan!
