This is what happens when you have a whole class of people specializing at saying nothing - they can properly do it only in their native language, in which they have achieved mastery of syntax: you only have to make an appearance of saying something to create an illusion that you are so smart that nobody can really understand things on that high a level. Well - trying to do the same thing in a foreign language that you don't really know really makes a clear display of such trickery. Busted!
