The fight between Zuko and Azula shouldn't have ended with Katara finishing the fight. After selflessly absorbing the lightning intending for Katara, that should have ended his inner turmoil and unlocked his own ability to harness lightning.....just saying.

@PsionCreed Actually, he was already able to redirect lightning. What had unlocked that is when he told his father that he was joining Aang's group and his father shot lightning at him and he was able to redirect it. He was just in no position to redirect Azula's lightning because he was in the air, sideways.
