2 Alarm House Fire - Firefighter Injured

A huge vacant 2 story house with attached servant quarters and garage requires 2 alarms with 2 additional engine companies. A captain was injured when the ceiling collapsed on him and his crew. He received 1st and 2nd degree burns and a back injury. The injuries were reported to be non life threatening. After the ceiling collapsed the interior attack was terminated and a defensive stance was initiated. Engine 11 used its deck pipe and Trucks 1 and 7 used their ladder pipes. Overhauling took several hours and additional apparatus were called in to for relief. The fire occurred in Shreveport, Louisiana on the evening of March 23, 2010.
