@jetsupers Yes but at least they are able to expose the truth about what happened in Iraq and apply pressure on governments to avoid making the same mistakes. This is more than any Ottoman did for the Jews, Assyrians and Hindus massacred by their empire. The Iraq invasion doesn't compare to the genocides committed by non-democratic and tribalist regimes. And it would have been much worse if America wasn't a democracy full of conscientious ppl who lack such collectivist values.

@jetsupers When did I compare Middle Eastern cultures to Western cultures? And PS, the US may be pretty bad but I can assure you the Chinese Communist Party is far more ruthless, cold blooded and nihilistic than any government in the world. At least with the USA, liberals can affect change by criticizing their governments for bombing other countries. If a Chinese person criticizes the CCP the best they could hope for is a quick death

@1982mockingbird1982 I definitely do not believe Middle Eastern cultures are superior. I believe comparing the MEast to the West is like comparing apples with oranges. They are completely different and it is impossible to view their world through western ideologies. The US thinks they rule the world but it is a changing ball game. The Chinese are beginning to be the much needed power balance to prevent further bloodshed created either directly or indirectly by Americans.

@jetsupers Are you saying that these Middle Eastern cultures and traditions are superior, or above crititism simply because they have existed longer? And who said anything about the USA? I'm not acting on behalf of any government, least of all the US. In fact ppl like me advocate reform in US foreign policy. Who am I to question these customs? Im an individual. Not an American. not an Australian, not even a human, just an individual. If I am wrong about these customs then you can enlighten me?

@1982mockingbird1982 It is not your concern to stand up for innocent people in different countries. This attitude makes the world hate USA. The USA is a new country with culture borrowed from Europe. The Middle East has been around for thousands of years, well before the USA so it is not wise to challenge their culture because it looks strange to you. The Middle Eastern people may have some "barbaric" customs when viewed from western eyes but who are you to question something older than USA.

@jetsupers Hey we will leave them alone if they leave secularists, non-muslims, Bahai's, women and gays alone. Until then, we have a right to stand up for innocent people who dont accept theocracy but are subjected to it anyway. We don't turn our back on these people just because they live in a different country.
