My next check-up is next week and my last visit I was told I had to get my valve replaced within the next 5 years. I was 19 and 265lbs. I knew that my health was severely hurting my life. Now I'm 20 and 200lbs and I've never felt better! I'm hoping for better news next week.

I have aoritc stenosis, but Im not sure how severe my symptoms are. Its hard to compare with others. I feel some heavy breathing just now writing this text. But I hva been tested thoroughlly, and Im just on the "above the surface", so to speak.

Anyone been through this who would explain how the symptoms manifest themselves? thx!

AVS surgery in @ 2 weeks, looking forward to getting oxygen to my brain:) So is my wife!!

I think that if the patient has moderate to severe aortic stenosis; the sympyoms should be there already.Like the Dr says , the best choice is surgery .I had it .I am feeling much better ,like Slinkyal71 said ( comment below)

Any help on this.....if a patient had moderate to severe aortic stenosis should something be done before symptoms arise?

I LIVE IN lEEDS ENGLAND and am 55 yrs old I had aortic valve replacement in march of 2009 after replacement with a Titanium valve i am now well on the road to recovery my health is much better no out of breath post op care was great I was sitting up within 24 hrs and discharged 7 days later i can only say any aprehensions that anyone has is normal but i am living proof of a better quality of life since the op and thank everyone involved

I agree, very nice video series. Very useful for a research paper I am doing for my graduate studies. I am excited to know that you won't be using the heart-lung machine for this type of approach. Very fancy. I love the study of the heart and am seeing and hearing a lot about a relatively new procedure called AVB (Aortic Valve Bypass) commonly done in the elderly. It's nice to see such advancements in Medicine.

Very nice video series. One question, when you put in a valve with the Wire Technique, the Physician mentiones putting the new valve in the old valve. If the old valve is harden and calcified does this pose and resistance on the new valce, and if not why?
