This Lake Buccaneer LA-4-200 amphibian has been sitting at Elstree Aerodrome outside of London for almost 10 years now, abandoned. She's got canadian registration C-FQIP, but nobody really knows who owns her. I tried to inquire and see if I could save her, but the airport manager told me that her tie down fees are paid regularly and that the owner doesn't want to sell. So there she sits. A couple more years and she won't be able to be saved at all. Sad story.
:( very sad..

What a crying shame. A beautiful winged bird like this should never be left to neglect and rust, they serve us well and fly like a dream. Hopefully someone will find this and take it away for repair and refit. Thanks for showing this wonderful bird.

Lakes are very neat planes. Originally Colonial Skimmer ,built by Colonial Aircraft in Sanford Maine USA dates from late forties.. Very sad. There are several airplanes at the airport where I am based that are completely neglected. Flat tires and the gear sinking into the ground because it has been so long. Is this plane beyond repair or could she be resurrected?

...I go to Elstree Aerodrome quite a lot... over the past 30 years believe it or not... only plane spotting... just love being around Aircraft... would love to have a Pilots licence... seen this Aircraft many times... knew it was an amphibian but didn't know what it was called... so thanks for that!
