This video is an interdisciplinary video project at Montana Tech between Dr. David Bunnell in the Department of General Engineering and Dr. Lori Shyba in the Department of Professional and Technical Communication. Planetary Gears are used to reduce the speed of rotating objects and are useful in, for example automobile transmissions.

  • Very nice. I also want to know what happens to torque? Does it gets reduced by 2.5 times in this example?

  • didn't quite get how the clutch works. The Ring pops out when the torque is too high?
