  • Heyyy, it's Cortez!! Love that guy, Don't know if you know the Morgan Stallion in QLD, Watching Royalty, I used to train him (:

  • @RoxieRainsRoobie Watching Royalty is currently staying at the stud where Cortez lives and he is a lovely horse. unfortunately I am not lucky enough to own Cortez but do have the pleasure and honour of being his current trainer

  • Is it true that this horse has been clicker trained?

  • @braeraphael Hi. there has been no 'trick' or 'clicker' training done with this horse. he is trained and riden without his bridle with the same aids that he is ridden with his bridle just without any head or mouth contact. This is possible when there is no conflict between the aids from the seat, back, leg and reins. It does certainly help to be riding a superb tempermented, senstitive and willing horse.

  • She has a rope around its neck?

  • @Tammyx90. I have set him up with a small, loose, leather strap around his throat like the throatlash of a normal bridle and this has a small ring on it which has a set of leather reins attached. I have found this system worked best for this horse as he is much more sensitive up higher on his neck than lower

  • @riverrange Lovely performance, but I hate that you put "trick" and "clicker" in the same phrase as if clicker training was somehow a smoke and mirrors type of training. In fact, it is based in the science of operant conditioning, and there are many excellent clicker trained horses. Anyway, your ride is exemplary in the lack of stress behavior from the horse and, as a former competitor in dressage, I commend you!

  • @Sydneff You see freaking reins... I don't see much else... freaking.

  • ....the horse has a bridle on I can freaking see it.

  • Awesome cant wait till the modern dressage will reach this level...

  • @braeraphael lol clicker training....

  • @nvsmorgans - Riverrange is the one you should be congratulating (: I trained Watching Royalty a little bit, not Cortez! he sure is a fantastic boy though!

  • @RoxieRainsRoobie Hi, I am really impressed! I had no idea Cortez knew so much. I am most impressed with the half passes and how he keeps the bend without a bridle. Really cool. Keep up the good work. BTW I have always thought he was a nice looking horse. I am training a Valdez kid and I love him. Also plannning on breeding my buckskin to a Valdez daughter. Again - Great job!

  • I so love watching this more then dressage where the rider is holding onto the horses mouth. Good job!

  • I was very impressed! Moreso because the horse was realxed and you both looked like you were having fun, something that is often lacking in dressage. Good on you! Personally, I am looking forward to the day when we can both show, and compete in dressage bitless :)

  • @riverrange Oh cool (: He used to live around the corner from me. And that sure is lucky! He looks fun to ride. Roy is a cheeky boy, he was only 4-5 when I trained him, and he sure knows he looks stunning!
