This is a video of an interview with Pam Glover, a premier plein air artist who has links to The Society of Six. More on Pam follows. www.eppersongallery.com www.pleinairlinks.com

Pam Glover is recognized as one of the major plein-air landscape painters in California and an important mentor to many Northern California painters. Influenced by early years in foreign lands, Glover is best known as a plein-air painter in the Colorist tradition. Her work is notable for bold, rapid brushwork and the use of oil paint using brilliant pigments. She continues in the tradition of the Society of Six, who broke new ground in the 1920s with their bright, Fauvist paintings of local East Bay scenes.

Glover has influenced hundreds of students through her outdoor classes taught for the past 25 years through the Orinda Community Center. A lasting tribute to Pam is the self-described Glover Group former students who have gained recognition in their own right and who carry on the Colorist tradition.

In the 1990s, Glover, along with six other painters, formed the Outsiders seven
painters who derive their inspiration from the Six and the Bay Area Figurative School.
Now in her 80s, Glover continues to teach weekly painting classes and to paint en plein air in and around Northern California.

  • I have known Pam since I was monitor of Lundy Siegriest's art class in Walnut Creek in the early 60's. I later picked up with her to start plein air about 1989. We had some wonderful trups together, Walnut Grove, McCall Idaho, Inverness etc. She was a great inspiration to me. She was a master colorist and she had a wonderful sense of humor.- juneinWA
