Provided by http://ACityOfFriends.com. One of the most fun parades in New Orleans, the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club Parade, better known simply as Zulu, celebrated its one hundredth anniversary this year. No modern Zulu parader would be complete without the presence of the Buffalo Soldier contingent. Keeping alive the memory and tradition of the black cavalry soldiers who helped to tame the American west after the Civil War, the contemporary Buffalo Soldiers are a crowd favorite along the Mardi Gras parade rout in New Orleans.

I love it that these guys use their horses to push back the crowd by riding sideways along the rows of people.
