@thehooner I hate Travis too, but Blind Melon still lives on. They are still selling records to this day. So they arent dead. And they are selling (from what I read) more of the Shannon era records than the new shit.
Long live Melon! Oh yeah, they still have the Shannon Hoon festival every september.

Blind Melon was as much the other guys as it was Shannon's, but Shannon was the singing, so to change the voice of a band is much more dramatic than, say, the bassist. Not to say the bassist doesn't bring something unique to the table, but to the fan, it's the words that carry weight, and the voice that makes the band distinct. So it's a predicament, and a double standard. Will anyone ask Slipknot to change their name now that their bassist passed away? I don't think so.

Whoever says that Blind Melon died with Shannon Hoon doesn't understand or appreciate the band--I had the pleasure to speak to Christopher Thorn and the way he spoke about Shannon didn't make it sound like he was gone at all--there was so much mutual respect and admiration within the members of this band that they worked as a single unit--each of equal importance, each with a unique vibe--
