Tribute to Terry Fox who attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research after losing his leg to it. He lost his life after making it half way - it had spread to his lungs. Means so much to me as I've lost a grandfather, 2 grandmothers, an uncle, and now my Mom, to this terrible disease. And another uncle has now been diagnosed. The song "Never Give up on a Dream" was written by Rod Stewart, as a tribute to Terry. Please share Terry's remarkable story.

  • It's called "Never Give up on a Dream" by Rod Stewart. It was written by him and Bernie Taupin (Elton John's writer) as a tribute to Terry and is on the Stewart album "Tonight's the Night" I believe.

  • There is no doubt in my mind or religion that Terry had an express ticket to heaven. His spirit will be at Saint John's NF next 12 April (Easter!) when twelve runners will trace his Marathon of Hope twentynine years ago. I will look for him in heaven when I get there. Terry is my hero, the first one born after me.

  • seriously, he ran 2/3 the way across canada with leg and cancer. All to raise money for other people. What the hell have you done? ( i mean besides talk a big game on the internet)

  • Just one correction: Thunder Bay happened on Monday, 1 September 1980, Labour Day. Since then, the Terry Fox Runs have been on the second Sunday after the Labour Day weekend in Canada.

27 years later, I still marvel at what Terry did. Shawn Ashmore acted admirably in "Terry", but he had no hope in matching Terry's speeches after meeting Greg Scott and when he had to retire from the run...no one could. As an American, I remain irritated that our press gave little coverage of the marathon.

  • lost my mom to cancer 12 years ago.hope you guys are doing great up there

  • Terry was great. The definition of strength, courage, role model, drive, motivation, inspriration, hero, superhero= Terrry Fox!!!!!!!!!!!!Makes me proud to be canadian!

  • a true Canadian hero

  • I don't know if there has ever been any one person as selfless and courageous as this man. Without saying a word, he lead a multitude of people to do good things. Even from the grave, he still makes us take a look at ourselves and think of what we can do to be a better person.

  • what a hero

  • Incredible man...

  • Terry Fox is a legend! Hope you rest in peace, Terry! May God always be with you!
