I'm amazed at the comparisons people are making here between Fred Thompson and Ron Paul. I agree with the politics of neither, but if you can't tell the difference between someone who is honest (Ron Paul), perhaps to a fault, about his views and this guy, a folksy fraudster clearly bought and paid for by the business interests he represents, then you need to start worrying about your political judgement.

This man was told from the start that people liked his message, but that he couldn't win, and that they would vote for someone they disagreed with on some things but thought had a chance of winning.
