How to Change a spark plug on a 2003 Honda Civic (In Real Time)

This is my first time changing spark plugs EVER, so if i'm messy with the wratchet, i know lol

I didnt record myself applying the anti-seize because that alone takes about 2 mins or so

OEM Spark plugs were Denso Platinums (i think)
Changed to NGK Iridium IX's

  • Never mind I didn't see the specification in the video, but do you know what we are supposed to calibrate the spark plugs to?

  • @SDTricker

Plugs should be gapped 0.039-0.043 in. (1.0-1.1mm)

  • does it add more horsepower? or fill economy?

  • @stevenekin2

    Maybe,

    Both are negligible at best

  • this video could had been so much shorter

  • spark plug adapters...?

  • Thanks for the Video....I watched it before I did mine. It took me about 30 min but I had a bit of trouble removing the ignition coils from the adaptor and also a bit of trouble pulling the socket out when I installed the new spark plugs (the socket kept on getting stuck on the spark plugs instead of coming out when I was pulling them out) Anyhow, thanks and If you are trying to figure out if you should do this job yourself you should go for it!

  • Thanks!

  • dude this shit is so easy to do i have the same car

  • dude u totally put ur new plugs in wrong. u wer supposd to put them back the way u took them off. 101 shit

  • @FloydRoseDiscovery Yes it is. The D17A2 vtec switches at 4500 rpm. It would not be vtec if it were a lx or dx, as those have the D17A1.

  • I bought a 02 Honda civic ex and I didn't know if it was vtec because the black cover that is on the valve cover says Honda on it. But when it gets in high RPMS you can hear the screaming. But I called the guy who had it and he said he swap that cover because the other one broke. and my motor was also stamped D17A2
