Behzad Nabavi Resignation from the 6th Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Nabavi was the first vice-chairman of the parliament and resigned on April 18th 2004 in protest to the mass disqualification of reformist and independent figures for the 7th parliamentary elections. In his resignation speech, Mr. Nabavi explicitly described the role of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in creating obstacles to the implementation of political reforms that had been promised by Reformist Movement leaders since the election of Mohammad Khatami as President.
