Just a quick cover I did of this tune with a awesome bassline. I didnt bother lining in so it sounds like crap but at least you can hear the bass.

  • Awesome dude!!!!..With a plectrum too!!!!..Man I recorded that bass part with a 73 Ric(Geddy style) fingerstyle 15 years ago. Didn't even think any gamer's would here the bass on Pootang. Truly blown away that somebody has actually sat down and learned it note for note. Awesome playin man. Peace

  • @2112BS Wow for real!? You are the bassist for Stylus Exodus? You have a damn great feel on the bass man! Have you played on any other records that I can check out? Also what's ur name man?

About my picking, I unfortunately got a weird problem called "focal dystonia" last year which does not allow me to play fingerstyle anymore, but pick still works for me!

  • Hi @picure - my name's Colin Anderson; I wrote the funk tracks for GTA and worked with Brian to record his bassline for Pootang Shebang. I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your playing and how pleased I am that the song inspired you enough to learn the bass part. The basslines Brian recorded for the GTA tracks remain some of my favourite bass performances to this day, and I'm really pleased to know there are others who share that. Respect is due and paid in full sir!

  • Great work man, cheers from a GTA soundtrack fan.

  • @picure Hey dude, my name's Brian Socha. Sorry about your "focal dystonia" dude, but it doesn't appear to affect your skill's, your real fluid with the pick. I've not really done any recording since the 2 GTA game's, the other track I played on was called Tucan Pie. Peace
