Alicia de Larrocha (1923 - 2009) plays La Playa (part 1 of 2), from Turina's Sanlucar de Barrameda - Sonota Pintoresca, Op. 24. Turina composed this work in 1921. This recording was produced by Hispavox about 1961, then released under the Turnabout Vox label in 1981.

See the New York Times review of this recording here (excerpt below): http://www.nytimes.com/1981/07/12/arts/recordings-keeping-up-with-alicia-de-l...

"Turina was a generation younger than Granados and Albeniz, but like them, he devoted his energies to the cause of developing a contemporary Spanish idiom. A student of Vincent d'Indy in Paris, Turina wrote in a cosmopolitan style that takes in elements of Impressionism as well as many of the modal, Arabic-influenced melodic traits of traditional Spanish music. One of his masterpieces is the four-movement sonata ''Sanlucar de Barrameda'' (Op.24), a virtuosic tour-de-force that dates from 1922. Miss de Larrocha's performance (TV 34773) is an unbridled burst of energy that sets this disk head and shoulders above its companions in the Turnabout series. The ''Danzas fantasticas'' (Op.22), on the same disk, are nearly as electrifying."
