January 17, 2012--This day went well! Prior to the workout, I made sure that I was adequately rested, carb-loaded, and hydrated. My final warm-up set (495 X 1) felt a little heavier than I thought it should have, but I pushed ahead. My first working set was 580 lbs. X 3 reps. The reps were explosive, the perceived effort was reasonably low, and in mid-stream, I changed plans. After some discussion, my partner, Mark, and I agreed that I should raise the weight to 590 lbs. for my second set. In my opinion, the weight moved a lot more quickly for this set than it did for the prior set. This was my first personal record for the day.
