  • In July he forecast a cold to very cold winter for Britain and Ireland 2009-2010, while the Met Office forecast average -above average winter temps.

He said they would be wrong.

Now that the winter has come and the results are in.

He got it spot on while the Met Office were way off.

I don't blame the bookies for refusing his bets.

I certainly wouldn't bet against him.

  • Gobal cooling will have far worse effects than warming could ever have ... and it probably won't stop new climate taxes anyway. AGW is all about politics, not science.

  • @abarafat When global cooling does happen because of low solar activity, it generally has the biggest affect on western europe and the UK by affecting the Jet Stream. Winters in these places will become much more severe and cold, whereas summers will become dreary, cool and grey. You can tell global cooling is already happening as in the UK, the last 5 summers were cool and damp, and the last 3 winters were cold and snowy.

  • Major drivers of climate ignored by Global Warmists

    1. Solar cycle

    2. Pacific Decadal Oscillation

    3. Effect of volcanoes in polar regions

    4. Water vapor

Then they claim CO2 drives temperatures when it actually follows temperatures. People are so brainwashed they refuse to believe evidence showing CO2 has minimal impact compared to other factors. In fact they get militant when their beliefs are challenged. GW has become a religion, not a field of science. A big money making religion.

  • which countries are likely to more affected by this cooling and will it be severe enough to hinder food crop production?

  • is this cooling going to affect the pacific ocean and asian countries? will this affect food crop production?

  • from a layman weather has been very different especially this year, what cooling temperatures are we looking at?

  • @Spetsop An accurate and entertaining analysis of that story (amongst others) is by Potholer54. Search for - BP oil spills and an end to snow on youtube.

  • @Spetsop I agree, CO2 is likely not running the show now, but there is evidence that it has in the past been the principle driver of global warming (see Snowball Earth). The evidence currently available to us suggests that the global climate system lags behind CO2 emissions and it's full effect won't be felt for decades. Corbyn's claim that 'warmers' are predicting massive changes now is a straw-man, because climate scientists (of which he is not one) are making no such predictions.

Part2: Correct me if I'm wrong of course.

Also, of course it will be a newspaper article... this was announced to the general public. Did you not notice who was the person who made that claim? It was Dr David Viner, who, according to the British Council website, is leading their work on climate change at the moment and was a member of University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit at the time of his claim.

  • @manoffireandlight

Well there you, CO2 is not the driver of climate. I'm not denying the fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, I'm denying the claim that CO2 is CURRENTLY running the show (because it never did in the past). CO2 increased in the past too, and my understanding of that is that shouldn't it have caused a positive feedback to the increase of temp? Meaning that as temp increases and more CO2 is released it would additionally increase the temp b/c of it's greenhouse effect?
