  • The point of a press is to put pressure on the offense up the floor. With this press, you're better off saving the kids energy and just having them sprint back and stay in the zone they are in--which is terrible D. Zone D is telling the other team that you can't guard them and this is the best we can do. WEAK. Step it up. Run and Jump up the court back to a hard, deny defense. You'd win more games.

  • haha. This video is of a team in our league. I posted the video so my playres could watch game film while at home. I'll pass your comments on to the teams coach. haha.

  • I disagree! The point of a press is to control tempo. Even if you don't get a steal, the offense is thinking about breaking a press and not thinking about an open post. While if you have enough talent to challenge man to man - do it... if you do not, this is good - thanks for the post coach!!!

  • A press is meant to apply pressure and speed up the tempo to cause the defense into bad passes. these guys are just walking up and not traping aggressively and cutting off the obvious passing lane.

  • @billjustincaseygates Yeah or zone can mean that te other team is so bad we're going to play zone and see if they can even score a bucket. You have no clue what your talking about my team one a 16u National Championship from a 1-2-2 it works if the three fron people play hard. But these kids look lazy as hell.

  • .

The alignment of this press is correct but the personel for this press makes it very ineffective. This 1-2-2 press if weak because the first man is not aggressive at all. The first man at the point of a 1-2-2 press should always be active, disruptive, and very enegergetic. The kid in this press is very robotic and passive. In a 1-2-2 press you should have one of your most disruptive and active defenders at the head of this press.

  • This is how u dont wanna run ur 1-2-2 press sorry to say but it was sad to watch

  • @pluswun correct. which can make a difference. A press is not just intended to make steals. A press is intended to make a team play the tempo you want, it can get the ball into the hands of people who are not use to having the ball... it can take time off the shot clock... so a press can be effective in many ways.

  • @billjustincaseygates I agree if your not going to trap in a zone full court press and take some gambles you might as well just get back on defense. However, you said that a zone defense is weak, which it is, so perhaps the coach put on the press to take time off the shot clock because his team cannot play man-to-man.

  • @billjustincaseygates I think your right. There just getting tired. They should be more agrresive when they diyble team in the 1-2-1-1

  • the biggest mistake the team being pressed is making is trying to dribble through the press.

  • u call that defense?
