Roberto Delgado and His Orchestra are in great shape here with this splendid arrangement of the "classic" 'Amapola'. This song was written by the Spanish composer Joseph LaCalle in 1924 but it was only in 1941 that the composition became a hit when Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra recorded their version and found themselves with a number one in the charts.
Later, famous versions were issued by eg Nana Mouskouri, Ennio Morricone (for the film 'Once upon a time in America') and 'the three tenors' better known as Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti (1990 Rome concert event). Roberto Delgado's latin version is a great mix of rhythm instruments, flutes and brass. If you were looking for the typical "Delgado sound" .... here it is !Enjoy!
