Alan Colmes contradicts himself on taxes. He says: taxes are voluntary, and then says, they are not voluntary. Why? In the other video Alan Colmes contradicts himself on whether individual citizens have the right to initiate physical force against other citizens. First he says they have that right, and then he denies having said that they have that right. Why?

  • 1:01 Helfeld: Do you think that taxes are voluntary contributions?

Colmes: Actually, it is voluntary, according to the tax code.

2:03 Helfeld: Do you think taxes are voluntary contributions?

Colmes: They are NOT voluntary, because they arrest people who don't file income taxes.

So, "according to the tax code", "[taxes are] voluntary", yet "they are NOT voluntary, because they arrest people who don't file income taxes"!

Jan, this is top-notch stuff, what you're doing!

  • It is amazing that this person being interviewed cannot connect "involuntary" with "forcefully". Isn't the definition of "involuntary" the same as the definition of force in this context? It is amazing to see him deny this multiple times, but I am reading the definitions right now - it is very clear.

  • how many representatives represented constituents when they approvrf all those bailouts, abandonrf disabled and elderly, let gross polluters off (Like Bee PEE) and abandoned the truly needy, like those people still living in temporary housing since katrina, that makes them sick, or the people and alll likfe suffering along the gulf coast sick & dying - so did we get represented by these representatives and taxes being distributed appropriately. INTERVIEW THE DUMBASS! use UR head not soundbytes

  • When you asked to pay taxes, if you are not on time, the interest grow crazy, and you have to pay...Then is forceful. If you do not want to pay taxes, then you have to move somewhere else, that is forceful. You are not free to choose, you are under their (Law) rules and conditions, is not equitable.

  • He looks fried.

  • Alan Colmes is a lizard... Income tax does not pay for schools or anything else he mentioned. What it does go to is the debt run up by career politicians and a greedy government.
