This is a private issue LP from 1986. It was a gift when you opened a bank account @ the Verenigde Spaarbank. But it was also the debut for Jaap van Zweden as a conductor.
The quadruple quartet by van Bree (1801-1857) is a quadraphonic (!) piece. The 4 separate string quartets were places in every corner of the concert hall.
This Mendelssohnian piece is one of the best Dutch works from that period, and has been recorded by Sir Neville Marriner, Ferdinand Leitner and Viktor Lieberman.

  • i'm playing this at the moment! it's such a super duper peace.

I just love how it all fits in so well! all the different parts!

LOVE IT! I have listened to this recording about 20 times now!

  • This is a great piece, i've played this piece with a group, its great!!!

  • Some 15 years ago I happened to overhear students practicing this piece in our university building. It grabbed me straightaway and I knew I must remember the name of the composer and this piece. Maybe due to the practicing pace I like it a bit slower allowing to squeeze out even more juice.

  • I love this piece!! I've played it with the Fancy Fiddlers a few years ago, and I'm still in love with it..aspacially around 1:23 and things like that

  • Hartelijke dank heer den Otter! This piece deserves more recognition. Great up-load.

  • this is quite nice
